It Takes Two, Baby
Annie, on an emotional and physical roller coaster ride during her first trimester of pregnancy, seeks Eric's sympathy and compassion. Meanwhile, Matt attempts a "Three's Company" like living arrangement when he moves in with three girls on campus ; Mary and Lucy put the "Rules" book to the test ; Simon's new girlfriend brings him a world of trouble and Ruthie, trying to understand what her mother is going through, experiences phantom morning sickness.
Drunk Like Me
Matt deciding that fraternity life isn't for him, drops out shortly before initiation night, but his friend Kevin goes through with it with disastrous consequences. Meanwhile, back at home, Annie recruits the family to restore an old family car as a present to Matt, but Simon refuses to participate in the all-girl activity. A recent divorcee church member flirts with Eric.
Cutters
Mary learns a shocking secret about Lucy's new best friend, Nicole. Meanwhile, Matt's ego is reduced to a piece of bite sized candy when a girl in college turns him down for a date, and Ruthie thinks the key to getting her mom's attention is by doing poorly in school.
The Legacy
When Simon's teacher is suspended after an altercation with an abusive parent, Simon feels partially responsible. But when Eric intervenes on the teacher's behalf, he uncovers a painful secret from his past. Meanwhile, Matt reads mixed signals from his attractive professor ; Mary cuts class ; and Lucy has major problems with her geometry assignment. Ruthie toys with several musical instruments in order to find her favorite, and Annie takes piano lessons from an attractive teacher.
...And a Nice Chianti
Eric helps a grief-stricken mother find the donor recipient of her son's heart, while Matt winds up in trouble with the law even though he only had good intentions. Meanwhile, Mary is insulted when her younger siblings refuse to ride in the car with her and Simon enjoys playing the mediator between the bullies and the nerds during the bus rides to school.
And the Home of the Brave
Annie, distressed and indignant of her father's upcoming wedding nuptials, befriends a homeless man instead of planning the reception. While Eric tries to hold down the fort, Matt and Mary take an ill-advised road trip, Simon auditions a potential girlfriend, Lucy defines the terms of her new relationship, and Ruthie's resumes a relationship with her imaginary friend.
Johnny, Get Your Gun
When Simon receives a death threat from a classmate over a girlfriend dispute, the Camdens are terrified. Concerned for the safety of his family, Eric tries to reason with the boy and winds up the victim of a shooting. Meanwhile, the rest of the family grapples with their own issues of violence : Ruthie with a war-themed video game, Mary with an overzealous boyfriend and Lucy with a passionate, but violent scene in the film "Gone with the Wind."
No Sex, Some Drugs, and a Little Rock and Roll
The Camdens confront the issues of addiction from the bothersome: Simon's caffeine obsession, and Lucy's phone usage to the potentially dangerous: Mary and Matt's interest in a new herbal energy stimulant being used by many of their classmates. Meanwhile, when Eric's high school rock band gets together for a reunion jam, he realizes they have little in common other than their mutual love for rock and roll.
Let's Talk About Sex
Lucy, intimidated by her current boyfriend's sexual experience ponders having sex with him to increase his interest. Annie and Eric witness the consequences of teenage sex when they counsel two pregnant girls the same age as Mary. Meanwhile, Mary sneaks away to a "coed" sleepover; Matt struggles with his Human Sexuality project and Ruthie gives Simon a baby-sitting experience he'll never forget.
Here Comes Santa Claus
The Camden family learns the true meanings of Christmas : love, family and generosity. Eric and Annie draw each other's names in the annual gift exchange, and give until there's no tomorrow. While volunteering at a soup kitchen, Mary invites a handsome homeless man home for dinner. Matt feels extreme embarrassment after dressing up as Santa at the local mall ; Lucy receives a gift from Jordan that leaves her surprised and disappointed ; and Simon conspires with an unlikely Santa Claus for Ruthie's sake
Nobody Knows
There are many ways to stretch the truth, and the Camdens take full advantage of the many shades of gray. Mary sails through her driving test, but keeps quiet about the failed parallel-parking section. Meanwhile, when Simon is upset after learning Eric knew of Deena's serious illness, Ruthie tries to help by consulting what she believes to be a phone psychic. Matt wrestles with his conscience after discovering his Aunt Julie is in town and may be in trouble.
All That Jazz
As Annie's pregnancy progresses, she and Eric struggle to forgive the doctor whom they blame for nearly killing Matt during his birth. Meanwhile, the Camden kids have issues of their own. Mary is haunted by a voice from the past when she schemes for male attention ; Lucy hides her friend Rod in her closet ; Matt mounts a campaign to capture Heather's heart when he learns she is back in town ; and Simon's girlfriend obsession puts a friendship in jeopardy.
The Tribes That Bind
The Camdens busily prepare for the arrival of the newborn twins. Though the children seem genuinely happy about the new arrivals, their concerns are many. Much to Annie's chagrin, a surprise shower thrown by the ladies of the church goes haywire after a gross misunderstanding. Meanwhile, trouble brews on the homefront as the battle between Ruthie and her neighbor escalates to new levels, Matt and Eric face an ugly racial dispute at the local restaurant and Lucy seeks solace from it all.
In Praise of Women
During her difficult labor, Annie stuns Eric by seeking advice from the doctor who nearly killed Matt during childbirth. Meanwhile, Simon inspires Matt to donate blood ; Lucy reevaluates her relationship with Jordan ; Simon worries about the role he is expected to play in the twin's lives and Happy invites a few canine friends over to play while the Camdens are away.
It Happened One Night
Eric and Annie juggle their newborn responsibilities with the daily trials and tribulations of their older children. Matt struggles with his pride when he takes a new job ; Mary sneaks out to meet a guy, but when her date is late, she befriends Lucy's ex-boyfriend Jordan - and has a surprisingly good time. Meanwhile, Lucy is stuck at home doing endless amounts of chores ; Simon is too absorbed in his parenting book to give his parents much needed hands-on assistance, and Ruthie, hurt by the diversion of attention to the newborns, runs away from home.
Paranioa
When Eric and Annie discover Lucy's boyfriend Jimmy Moon may be involved with drugs, they urge Lucy to stay as far away from him as possible. Meanwhile, as Eric's additional household duties continue to keep him away from the church, he begins to suspect that the deacons are in cahoots. Mary attempts to help Simon with his baseball tryouts and Ruthie tries to make waves between Matt and new girlfriend.
Sometimes That's Just the Way it is
While counseling a troubled married couple, Eric and Annie gain a newfound appreciation and perspective of their own familyissues. Topping the list is Matt, who joins the Army in order to rid his parents of the financial strains of college tuition. Maryand Lucy rebel against their family duties and nearly put their lives in jeopardy ; Simon is convinced he is fated for the "middle child" syndrome, and Ruthie will stop at nothing to divert attention away from the newborn twins.
We the People
The Camdens are drawn into a morality battle. When the news of a scandalous extramarital affair involving Eric's friend Jack Brenner, the President of Matt's college, is unearthed, Eric, Matt and Annie are forced to balance concern for Jack's family, and complete disdain for his actions. Meanwhile, Simon and Ruthie's entrepreneurial plans fall to the wayside as they encounter collection problems on their paper route and Mary enlists Lucy's help in another car related mishap.
The Voice
When a custodian from Simon's school faces may lose his job after claiming to hear voices from the Almighty One, Eric comes to the rescue. Back at home, Annie is desperate for a romantic night away from the Camden kids ; Lucy and Mary conspire to work at a country club party ; Matt suspects his girlfriend may have eyes for another and nobody believes Ruthie when she says she has befriended a Chimpanzee.
All Dog's Go to Heaven
When two parishioners ask Eric to ease the pain and suffering of their beloved pet by putting him to sleep, Eric struggles with his conscience. Meanwhile, it's a big Friday night for the other members of the Camden clan when Annie has a date with the twins, and Matt catches Mary in a passionate embrace in an odd location. Simon's dream birthday dinner date with Deena is chaperoned by Lucy and Deena's older brother and Ruthie finds a connection with a male playmate who detests babies.
There Goes the Bride, Part I
Eric is worried about Matt's potential reaction to Heather's wedding despite all assurances that their relationship is platonic. Meanwhile, he is distracted when he learns his sister Julie is dating Dr. Hastings. Meanwhile, the other Camden children are entangled in their own affaire d'amours. Mary is involved in a clandestine romance, Lucy finds herself in an uncomfortable love triangle between her two best friends, and Simon is less than happy when Deena's cousin makes a pass at him.
There Goes the Bride, Part II
After Matt's rash and disruptive actions during Heather's wedding ceremony, Eric is forced to put all personal feelings aside and counsel his sister and Dr. Hastings in their time of despair. Meanwhile, the other members of the Camden family are continuing to deal with their own romance issues. Lucy is devastated when she learns of Mary's secret relationship, and betrays her good friend to incite jealousy. Simon is taught the art of French kissing.
