Barry was the third of four children (Scott and Christie are older, Kip is younger). His father was an attorney, and his mother a paralegal. At the age of 8, his family moved to Dallas, and this is when he began modeling. When he was 14 his parents divorced and at 15 he took off to Burbank, CA and almost immediatly landed a six-month job on Days of Our Lives after-which he returned to Dallas and graduated from Richardson High in 1992.

At age 19 he returned to L.A. again, this time determined to make it. For six months, while going to audition after audition, Barry parked cars at The House of Blues. He finally landed the role of "Seth" in Malibu Shores, an Aaron Spelling series. Then came Co-Ed Call Girl, a made for TV movie, but finally he got his big break when he landed Matt Camden on the series 7th Heaven.

When he's not working, Barry mostly enjoys spending his free time outdoors in and around Los Angeles. He also loves fixing up his home and spending time with his dog, Harsky, named after the title characters in his favorite television series, Starsky and Hutch.

He is now taking a break from 7th Heaven because it has been released that he has developed Hodgkins Disease and is taking a break to hopefully get better. He has a 95% chance of being OK.
